Create and Send Mailing

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

CiviCRM Tutorials

  1. On the CiviCRM menu click on Mailings > New Mailing
  2. Enter the title of the mailing in the 'Name your mailing' field (note: this is for the system purposes, not for the email subject)
  3. In the 'Include Group(s)' field highlight the groups to which you want to send the mailing (e.g. "Active Members") and click on the Add button - repeat this step for all desired groups
  4. Click on the Next button
  5. Keep the options on the 'Track and Respond' screen untouched unless you have a specific reason for changing them
  6. Click on the Next button
  7. In the 'Mailing Content' screen select the from address and type the mailing subject
  8. In the 'Use template' drop-down select the template that works best for this mailing; choose "Generic" if unsure
  9. If some content pre-populated in the 'HTML format' section, replace it with your text and images
  10. Same goes for the 'Plain-text format' section
  11. If you wish to attach one or more files, click on the triangle next to the word 'Attachments'
  12. Leave the header and footer as is
  13. Click on the Next button
  14. In the 'Test' screen you may choose to send a test email with this mailing to one or more recipients
  15. Click on the Next button
  16. In the 'Schedule or send' screen you may either keep the 'Send immediatelly' check-box ticked or untick it and fill out the date and time to schedule the mailing to be sent out at a later time
  17. Click on the Submit mailing button
Note: You can interrupt your mailing creation at any time by clicking on the Save & Continue Later button. To come back to your half-done mailing, on the CiviCRM menu click on Mailings > Draft & Unscheduled Mailings, locate the mailing and click on the 'Edit' link on the very right
