Download Back-Up File Created by JoomlaPack
Joomla Tutorials
If your Joomla! website is equiped with the JoomlaPack component to take back-ups of your files and database, you may be receiving the following message (or similar) in your email inbox:
"JoomlaPack has completed backing up your site using the front-end backup feature. You may visit the site's administrator section to download the backup."
The back-up might have been stored in two types of locations, depending on the configuration in your website:
- on the same server as your website
- on a remote server (e.g. ftp server)
If the first option is true for your website, then it is wise to download the back-up file so you have it in two different locations. Just in case your server crashes and cannot be recovered, and your host's back-up might not be 100% reliable. Regardless your host's reputation, it is recommended to rely only on your own data when it comes to your website.
Here are the steps you need to take:
- Log into the admin section of your Joomla! website
- On the main menu click on Components >> JoomlaPack >> Administer Backup Files
- Select the check-box next to the last back-up file and click on the Download icon in the right-hand upper corner
- Save the file in a safe location or even better two locations (e.g. your computer + external hard-drive)
That's it - quite easy, wasn't it?
